In a move expected to further expand its capabilities in the performing arts sector, Wenger Corporation has acquired Texas Scenic Company, a designer and manufacturer of theatrical stage equipment based in San Antonio, Texas.
Founded in 1946, Wenger Corporation’s products and solutions support music education, performing arts and athletics. From acoustical shells and staging systems to theatrical automation, Wenger Corporation and its Wenger, J.R. Clancy, GearBoss, Creative Conners and Lutefish brands serve a wide range of customers including K-12 schools, universities and professional performance venues worldwide.
Texas Scenic, founded in 1936, specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of stage systems, including rigging, curtains, lighting and acoustics, for performance venues across the US.
The acquisition unites Wenger’s expertise in performance equipment with Texas Scenic’s strengths in stage systems and theatrical infrastructure. Wenger said customers of both companies would benefit from expanded resources, enhanced support, greater capacity for innovation, and integrated engineering expertise.
“This acquisition reflects Wenger’s ongoing commitment to enriching lives by enabling and inspiring great performances,” said Dave Thomas, Wenger president and CEO. “With Texas Scenic’s capabilities now part of our portfolio, we can help performance spaces fully support the creative vision of artists and production teams.”
“Joining Wenger allows Texas Scenic to amplify its impact,” said Steve Surratt, president of Texas Scenic. “Together, we can help venues achieve their highest potential with innovative, reliable solutions.”
Operations at Texas Scenic’s San Antonio headquarters will continue uninterrupted. There are plans to integrate teams, products and services in the coming months. Wenger said customers can expect “seamless service and enhanced opportunities” as the Texas Scenic brand continues to grow.
